A day trip to Sarlat

Ranked one of the Most Beautiful Detours in France, Sarlat-la-Canéda is located on the edge of the Causses du Quercy natural regional park.  This historic town and ancient episcopal city over several centuries, is today a charming town that is a definite must-see during your stay.

One of the most visited medieval towns in France

Take a stroll around the town centre and lose yourself in the pretty narrow backstreets.  Stop off at one of the many shady squares or on a terrace at Place de la Liberté.  It is the ideal place to taste the local specialities like foie gras, truffles, figs and walnuts.

Continue your visit past magnificent 15th and 16th century mansions like Maison de La Boétie, Hôtel du Barry, Hôtel de Savignac and the ancient courthouse.  Take a peek in Saint-Sacerdos cathedral (12th to 14th century), the Lanterne des morts (tower standing 10 metres tall, a rare sight in France)...

Also see : Château de Campagnac, relics of the Château épiscopal de Temniac (15th century)…
